Metrologists and quality managers from each of the Russian Federation's FDA-equivalent FSBI sites (pictured above) convened in Moscow in March for an ANAB measurement uncertainty training course. ANAB's Bill Hirt, who served as the course instructor, reports that while all attendees were Russian, many of them had to travel significantly across the country's nine time zones.
In the city of Yekaterinburg, located in the heart of the Ural Mountains in Russia, one of the Russian Federation's FSBI (FDA-equivalent) laboratories received its ANAB accreditation visit and recommendation for ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation. Yekaterinburg is near the crest of the Urals and thereby divides the accepted line separating Europe from Asia. Hirt is pictured above at right at the point marking the divide.
