ISO/CASCO Holds 29th Plenary in Beijing

During the week of October 7, 2013, 114 delegates representing 37 member bodies and liaison organizations gathered in Beijing, China, for the 29th ISO/CASCO plenary and workshop on conformity assessment. The plenary week started as usual with the bi-annual meetings of the ISO/CASCO Technical Interface Group (TIG), the Strategic Alliance and Regulatory Group and the Chairman's Policy and Coordination Group. This year, the open day became an integral part of the plenary and, besides the presentations from the working group conveners, it hosted seven round-table discussions that encouraged participation and the exchange of ideas.

The plenary week closed on a workshop co-organized by the Chinese hosts and ISO/CASCO. A pool of experienced experts discussed the impact of economic globalization, regulation and consumer safety on conformity assessment and answered questions from participants.
