Project 25 CAP

Project 25 Compliance Assessment Program

ANAB is recognized by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as an accrediting body for the upcoming Project 25 Compliance Assessment Program (P25 CAP).

P25 CAP standardizes interfaces among land mobile radio (LMR) systems used by first responders. Suppliers of this type of equipment can demonstrate compliance with P25 standards through testing facilities accredited by ANAB.

Congress legislated the P25 CAP to ensure that LMR equipment complies with P25 standards for interoperability across suppliers. The P25 CAP is a partnership of DHS’s Office for Interoperability and Compatibility, industry, and the emergency response community. The initial program focus is on the Common Air Interface, which allows for over-the-air compatibility between radios and tower equipment.

The P25 CAP helps first responders make purchasing decisions because it provides a verifiable way to know that the equipment purchased is P25 compliant and therefore provides enhanced interoperability.
